Mawei Shipbuilding inks contract for newbuild pair with P&O Maritime

China’s Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding received a contract for two 5,400 dwt bulk container vessels from P&O Maritime, a wholly-owned subsidiary of DP World.

The two vessels are in 90 metres length, 23 metres width and 6.1 metres depth, will be classified by ABS and delivered in 2021.

The vessel is designed to carry both bulk and container cargos, will be deployed for shipping services on Fly River in Papua New Guinea.

Mawei Shipbuilding is one of the major shipyards in South China. The yard is capable of building all types of vessels up to 35,000 dwt.
